Life lessons from new sitcom "Family Tools"
ABC's newest comedy Family Tools is sure to be something local HVAC business owners can relate to. When "big kid" (read: unsuccessful adult) Jack (Kyle Bornheimer) has to move home and take over the family repair business when his father, Tony (J.K. Simmons) has a heart attack, chaos ensues. Along this journey, he faces a lot of obstacles, including trying to keep up and have success in the fast-paced repair business world. Family Tools shares a lot of wisdom that HVAC business owners can relate to. Here are three important life lessons the show has shown so far:
- Teach your family your trade. Start young with Bring Your Child to Work Day. Teaching your children about your business will not only give them an appreciation for your work, but also an interest in it.
- It's never too late to learn. You can teach an old dog new tricks, and Jack is going to prove it . . . with a few missteps along the way.
- Family matters. While business is important, you need to make sure you are there for your family. You never know - they may be the ones taking over your business one day!
